Growing up in the Eugene/Springfield area, an old family friend and mentor, Chuck Kesey, always asked me, “What’s your million-dollar idea? You only need one.” My wife, Emily, and I have always tossed around business ideas, looking for the right one. Countless ideas have come and gone, but none have stuck quite like a 9-iron from 130 yards. Traveling around the country—from Portland to Minneapolis to Las Vegas—and exploring different models helped shape this idea.

Fast forward two years, and we are about to open Fore Seasons Golf, an indoor golf simulator business with a full bar and small kitchen. During those two years, we met many great business owners and were fortunate to connect with a number of smart, inspiring people who believed in us and gave us the confidence to go for it.
